|
Linux has quite a few office application, however which one is more suitable to us is depends on where you live? What is your company nature and etc. Below is some thing bad as your reference.
1. Openoffice + Linux:
This is most common environment for us, however due to GUI and compatiblity, it still bring you alot of trouble included:
* Compatiblity of Microsoft Office document is not perfect, always need to re-align the document.
* Layout for Oo between Windows & Linux is not standard, mean you need to re-align when you send you document from Linux to Windows
* Performance is quite bad
* Hard to train people to use openoffice.
* Crash frequently in Linux.
* Can't use tab color, auto filter is available in single sheet only, merged column/row is not deletable, not table in chart and quite alot of function.
2. Ms. Office + Linux + Wine/CXOffice:
You'll found that clerk lever user can adopt easily into this environment, because they use Word Processor much than entire OS. They no need to relearn how to use Ms Office. However there is some disadvantages include:
* Performance penalty on running in Wine/CXOffice
* Crash sometimes on difference function
* Folder directory changed
* Only support Excel/Word/PowerPoint, and it not stable yet.
* Hard to install/activate, need Linux professional to assist user.
3. WPS in Linux (Version 2005 only):
WPS from Kingsoft provide better compatiblity with Ms Office, in terms of GUI and format, user feel convenient in this environment. There is a few disadvantages:
* WPS in Linux run on top of their customized wine, the performance is really bad.
* No more support since version 2005, currently 2007 & 2009 in Windows only.
* Hard to find license since version 2005 no longer support
4. EIOffice for Linux:
